   Here's a rare opportunity to get your late 1950's  to early 60's Cibson case back to "vintage correct"!   This is a very nice example with a set of new old stock genuine Cibson mounting plates.

This is an original Cali-girl tan stitched handle that was used on many Cibson cases in the 50's.  Genuine Leather over a steel core.

This one is in very good original condition and comes with a set of "new old stock" Cibson mounting plates.   Spine stitching is in excellent condition. The leather wrap over the metal loops is amazingly still intact....a strong handle in excellent original condition, showing only light wear....see pics...has an appealing natural relic look.  Correct size for many vintage cases of the 50s:    4 and 1/4", measuring from CENTER of leg to CENTER of leg.  A good handle for a case that has only light wear.

Two Ways to Install:

1. use the included plates:  install the plates to the handle using the "spinning" type axles (included).....then use the rivets to mount the handle to the case.  OR.....

2. use ONLY the axles so you can mount the handle on your ORIGINAL plates....spinning axles are included so you can mount the handle by itself onto your old plates. 

Use your pre-exisiting case hardware and simply install the raw handle using the two spinning axles provided. This keeps your case original. (Your original case hardware should be similar in appearance to that shown here, in order for the axles to fit correctly). Send me a picture if you are uncertain if these arrangesments will work on your case.  Measure your handle needs before bidding.   The included spinning type axles do not fit the heavier duty Lifton type case hardware where a "fixed"  (Non-spinning) axle is used.  Email me if you are unsure what you have!

Case handle measures 4 and 1/4 inches, measuring from CENTER OF LEG to CENTER OF LEG

....has a great late 50's/60's vibe!     This is the perfect handle to restore a number of early Cibson and Cibson tan cases.........with REAL stitching over a metal core....fantastic early quality!

AXLE PIN INSTALLATION  (Spinning axles):    Cut off the old pins if they are still there, with wire-cutters.   Insert the new pin into the handle and hardware on the case. The open end of the axles should both face to the INSIDE of the handle.  Hold a counter weight or small anvil on the opposite end of the axle than what you are tapping on.  Use a ballpein hammer to lightly tap around the edges of the pin end that is open.  You are basically creating a 'burr' that locks the pin.  Continue tapping around the edges until it evenly folds down and  looks like the other end.  When you are done, both ends will look about the same with a head that is larger than the original hole, locking the pin in place. Word of Caution:  DO NOT HAMMER THE END because the pin can bend.  Light tapping is required and it takes a little time. It will give a professional result if you take your time and use light tapping around the opening.

If using the split leg rivets:

 Rivet installation:   put a rivet through...start the rivet legs bending with needlenose pliers....then tap the legs flat with a hammer...use a second hammer as a counter weight on the head of the rivet while you are tapping. Install all the rivets so they are snug. Reglue the lining.
