1930s Favorite parlor guitar Kay Harmony Regal BASKET CASE RESTORATION PROJECT

1930s Favorite parlor guitar Kay Harmony Regal BASKET CASE, RESTORATION PROJECT. (Please see my other listings for more parts from this guitar.)

The headstock logo ("Favorite" with a heart motif) is stamped into the wood. No country of manufacture marked, but without a doubt U.S. made. No serial or model number, but judging by its features the guitar probably dates to ca. 1930s. No doubt "Favorite" was a distributor brand manufactured by a company like, Kay, Harmony, Regal, Oscar Schmidt, etc.
Slotted headstock. All solid wood construction. Birch top and neck...the sides and back are probably birch as well but the exposed wood inside has a darker appearance almost like mahogany, but I think it's just due to aging. Painted light colored wood (again, probably birch) fretboard) with inlaid pearloid plastic dot markers. Stenciled on faux "binding" and soundhole rosette.

25" scale length (nut to 12th fret x 2) The neck is 1 7/8" wide at the nut. 18 T-type frets. Neck joins the body at the 12th fret. Large (but not huge or clubby) soft V neck profile. The fretboard has a flat or nearly flat radius.
Body is 13 1/2" wide at the lower bout, 9 15/16" wide at the shoulders, 3 11/16" deep. Ladder braced.

The top is severely deformed at the soundhole on both sides and there are three open cracks in that area, 6" near the treble side rim below the soundhole where a pickguard would be if the guitar had one, (which it never did) and 2" long from the rim of the soundhole on the bass side running toward the butt end. The top is very slightly sunken in the center for a few inches between the bridge and the soundhole. The fret ends are a bit sharp, but that's an easy fix. The guitar may have been kept in a damp environment, there's a water stain visible on the inside of the back through the soundhole and the warpage may be due to dampness, but the guitar does not appear to have been immersed in water. It doesn't have a mildewed or moldy smell but it does have a noticeable "antiquey" odor.

Lots of finish checking, some flakeage, scratches, and wear all over, but then it is an 80 or more year old guitar. Some fingernail wear on the painted black white wood fretboard, but almost no fret wear at all...the frets appear to have never been leveled and have their full height.

Sighting down it, the neck appears quite straight. There's a slight hump at the upper end over the top due to the soundhole area warpage. The neck set is solid.

No repairs appear to have ever been attempted on any of the cracks or anywhere else on the guitar...the top, sides, and neck all appear to be completely crack and repair free.

No parts except the original wooden nut. No tailpiece, floating bridge, tuners, endpin, screws, no parts of any kind, just what you see in the pics, the husk of the guitar. (Please see my other listings for some of the parts from this guitar.)

No case, will be well packed for safe shipping.
