Up for sale, a 1980 Takamine F304S vintage dreadnought acoustic guitar in exceptional, near mint condition and in perfect working order. Falling under the umbrella of Japan's "lawsuit era," there's no denying the direct inspiration of Martin's D-18 in the tonal properties and cosmetic appointments of the F304S. Featuring a solid spruce top and laminate mahogany back and sides, the F304S delivers a classic X braced square shoulder dreadnought tone, with a sound that has great projection and clarity. Professionally setup and strung with fresh 12-53 bronze strings, this Takamine has comfortable action and classic good looks.
The mahogany neck has a medium C shaped profile with original frets that show virtually no wear and a full 25 1/2" scale. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width and the rosewood fretboard features pearloid dot inlay. On the headstock, the original Grover inspired chrome tuning machines turn smoothly, and the "Takamine & Co" gold script clearly evokes the brand that inspired this model. Even the fragile "Made in Japan" sticker is still present on the back of the headstock, and this often missing detail is a testament to the care this guitar has received over the past 35+ years.
On the body, the braces are in great shape, the original bridge sits flush with the top, and the saddle has plenty of room for future adjustment if desired. The Takamine name is stamped on the inside of the back on the central brace, and the original serial number is present on the neck heel, two more small details in which Takamine faithfully mimicked Martin with the design of the F304S. Cosmetically, this guitar is near mint, with only a few faint scratches in the pick path and a few stray nicks and dings on the body as a whole. The finish has a glossy mirror shine, and the instrument is crack-free!
The original hardshell case is included and also in fantastic shape with a clean gold interior, working latches, and original handle.
