Up for Sale is a1982 Electra X635 Phoenix Bass!
60th Anniversary Model! Built by Matsumoku of Japan!
This is really cool. You are looking at a 1982 Electra X635 Phoenix Bass. This is the 60th Anniversary Model. Built by Matsumoku, the premier guitar builder of that era. Pro Level Bass.
From The Web:
Electra guitars were imported from Japan by the Saint Louis Music (SLM) of Saint Louis, Missouri from 1971 to 1984 (most MPC models were made by Matsumoku of Matsumoku , Japan). Matsumoku has made many popular guitar brands over the years including; Aria, Westbury, Westone, Cibson, Vantage & Vox to name but a few. Ties with Matsumoku are further solidified in 1981 and decision made to merge SLM Electra brand with Matsumoku's Westone brand. At some point in the early 80's, some production is moved to Korea. MPC Ultima X960 debuts in 1981. In the fall of 1983, Electra brand becomes Electra-Phoenix. By early 1984 it became Electra-Westone and by the end of 1984 it is just Westone.
St. Louis Music Inc's reason to abandon the Electra line were; overall, the MPC were not a great marketing success (seems unbelievable with the success Electra's are now enjoying :-)
Electra Westone became Crate which is still around.
In 1982 a new version of the Phoenix bass was added, which like all 1982 models carried an Anniversary Edition plate on the back of the headstock. This coincided with SLM's Anniversary (1922-1982). The 1982 model featured a laminated ash & walnut body.
The Anniversary edition with stripes continued until 1985, when the Electra name was dropped in favor of Westone. The X635 continued as the Westone Spectrum DX bass.
Everything functions and works fine. Our Luthier did a set up on this bass and installed new strings.

Cosmetics: Good Condition. Keep in mind that this is a 34 year old vintage bass that has been played. There are some small dings along with light strumming/picking scratches on the front. The back has some light belt buckle rash scratches. The Neck, Fretboard and Headstock in great shape. Normal wear and tear. Not abused or beat up in any way. It is used. Not perfect. Look at the pictures closely. They will tell the story.
