1984 Takamine Arte (H-15) Classical Concert Guitar Xlnt Condition New Hard Case
Up for sale is a very fine Japanese hand made concert classical guitar hand signed by the master luthier. Takamine made very limited amount of Arte 15 Hirade guitars in 1980s, but at the end of 1989, he replaced the Arte 15 with H-15, which is the typical standard scale guitar. Among Takamine's concert classic product lines, the H-15 is the highest model (from H-5 to H-15). One of his early 1990s guitar catalog shows the suggested list price for H-15 is $3069 retail. The difference between Arte 15 and H-15 is not just the scale length, but also the age of the Ezo spruce top. He also used different wood for the bracing in his early models. So the Arte 15 has a little longer scale (653-655 mm), and more hand work on the soundboard. This one has a marque at the edge of the wood binding is just an indication of the elegant soundboard work he did.
This guitar has a very woody tone and very balance between the bass and treble. I can hear the treble really singing out and sustain and at the same time, I can hear the sound separation very nice. Compared to his later model such as H-25, this guitar has more tone quality rather than a big punchy note and die out quickly as I tried a H-25 few months ago at a retail store. The playability is very good with a straight neck and nice string angle at the saddle there. The action height is set at standard, and very easy to play. It is a decent concert instrument. There are some surface scratches and string burns and play wears due to its age. But nothing serious and no structural defects. My photos shows most of the visible marks and scratches but some are very hard to show on the photos. The top is close to mint condition.
