2015 Fender Jazz Bass American Vintage '64 Reissue Black, Mint w/Case & Tags USA

Up for sale, a 2015 Fender American Vintage Series '64 Jazz Bass in mint condition and in perfect working order. While technically a "used" instrument, this bass is practically flawless cosmetically, and complete with the original hardshell case, case candy, and every single hangtag and bit of paperwork. As Fender's current Pre-CBS style Jazz Bass offering in the American Vintage line, this '64 reissue is a stunning example of Fender's current USA quality and craftsmanship, with a sleek, gloss black nitro lacquer finish. The alder body delivers a powerful and resonant acoustic tone, and the original Fender nickel roundwound strings have a very clear and defined quality. With newly designed pickups that strictly adhere to vintage specifications, this bass has the growl, power, and articulation for which the Jazz Bass model is known, delivering snarl and snap from the bridge pickup, tempered by a smooth fundamental thump from the neck position single coil. With both pickups engaged, there's a smooth midrange that is present and full, yet sits perfectly in the mid in an ensemble situation. Of course the factory mute foam beneath the bridge cover also helps to dampen any string chatter or unwanted top end, rounding out the vintage correct appointments on this bass. Weighing in at 10lbs even ("fully clothed' with both ashtray bridge and pickup covers), this bass has had a few slight setup tweaks here at our shop, Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, to ensure ideal action and intonation.
The thick veneer rosewood fretboard sits atop a one-piece maple neck with a well rounded medium C shaped profile. The profile has a perfectly smooth clear gloss nitro lacquer finish that feels great on the palm, and the neck has nice big shoulders with notable depth in the higher registers of the fretboard. The vintage style frets on the 7 1/4" radius fretboard show zero wear, with perfectly rounded and polished fret crowns. The headstock sports an era-correct Fender waterslide decal as well as clover button tuning machines with flawless chrome plating. In fact, we only removed the factory plastic shrink wrap on the tuner buttons for these photos!
The electronics all work flawlessly, the chrome hardware is in perfect shape, and the three-ply white pickguard still has the thin layer of protective plastic covering it. The gloss black lacquer finish is showroom clean, with a tiny bit of expected swirling in the clear coat from the factory buffing wheel, but that's about it! This bass has been safely stored in its case since new, and will stay that way until it finds a new home!
The original hardshell case, case candy, and hang tags are all included.
