My name is Frank.
I was born in 1965 and I started playing guitar when I was 10 years old.
When I was 15, I built my first custom guitar with the help and assistance of a very old carpenter.
Over the years I have been playing in several bands, on stages in studios in pubs and mostly in rehearsal rooms and I built some more guitars just for fun.
Playing in different bands forced me to use several guitars.
Being tired of changing my guitars for every gig, I often wished to have one guitar that really could be a jack of all trades.
With this requirement in mind, in 2002 I launched the Zerberus-Guitars company in Germany.

So far about my person (and history).

Now to the Crow Bass #001:
A crow in the hand is worth two in the bush....OK there ain´t no second Crow on the planet and surely there is none in the bush - so take a look at this one.
I built that bass as an unique specimen.
Not crafting it for a customer I was free to spread my wings of creativity to create an increddible artwork.
The body is made of two pieces Padouk Coral-lumber that "glows" in the light.
The neck is made id 5 stripes: American flamed Red-Oak, Purple Heart and German Oak.
The fretboard is made of Pau Ferro Santos Palisandre.
The neck has illuminated side dots that can be switched Blue and Red or Off if you don´t like it.
(But I am sure you will love it)
The neck has a 864mm scale and is glued into the body.
The neck has amixed fret system, what means that the frets from 1 to 12 are 2.8mm and tzhe frets from 13 to 24 are 2.3mm.
That offers you more space in the higher frets.
I have used Sperzel locking tuners and single individual bridges on the Crow.
The pickups are made by the German boutique pickup maker Harry Häussel.
The controls are made by the German manufacturer "Glockenklang".
Its a 2-band active control that can be switched active/passive.
I have used my own designed poti knobs and I have layed in some Padouk caps.
You can see that this bass is an artwork, one of a kind and absolutely unique on the planet.

Generally I can say that my customers are completely free regarding the design and features.
If I can build it – I will build it.
I don´t employ computer controlled CNC mills that spit out nearly finished bodies and necks.
I know that today most customshops have their guitars built by CNC mills.
Please don´t get me wrong: There is nothing bad about a CNC computer controlled mill.
If you have to make lots of guitars as fast as you can, or if you have to make guitars with the exact same shapes and
designs again and again, you will not get round having CNC machines in the workshop.
I don´t want to make exactly the same shapes and designs with every one of my guitars and I don´t have to build hundreds of guitars.
That offers me the possibility to build my guitars really by hand, instead of having them cut and shaped by computer controlled machines.
And so my customers always get a guitar that is a unique specimen. I am building them the old fashioned way using angle grinder, sharp scraping irons, and tons of sandpaper.
And handcrafted really means handcrafted.
All custom guitars are completely made by only one luthier - ME.
Zerberus-Guitars is some kind of a One-Man-Show and it´s only me in the workshop.
I do all the works - drive around to find amazing long time stored lumber - saw out the bodies and necks -shape that all by hand without using CNC machines -
equip the hardware - install the electronics - paint the guitars and so on......I also take the photos and make the website.
No step of my work is done by someone else.
That makes the guitars very unique.

Regarding the shipment:
I do my best to protect the guitar as good as I can.
That means that I use overseas cardboard which is very sturdy.
Then I warp a lot of Red tape around the parcel with the printing “Handle with care!!!”.
I really do my best to make the shipment safe and secure.
In other words, I will make the packing as safe as I can so nothing shall damage the guitar inside.
The shipment from Germany to the USA via DHL will be free of charge (for you) and the guitar is fully insured.
So if a guitar gets lost, the shipping company will pay full refund.

Regarding the payment:
People often ask me why the prices in the US-E-bay auctions are much lower than those in the German E-bay.
This is because of the tax law. (not my idea)
The price shown in the auction is for bidders who live outside the European Union.
Bidders who live inside the European Union will have to add the German
Value Added Tax (VAT) that is 19%.
