The Martin D-45E faithfully models itself on the vintage pre-war era Martin D-45 that cemented them in guitar history, but now with modern design features including a Fishman F1 Electronics system that modern players will appreciate. Also, a re-shaped performance neck makes playing action even smoother and more comfortable than ever before. Exquisite tonewoods of Solid Sitka Spruce for the top and Solid East Indian Rosewood on the Back & Sides provide classic warmth and projection whilst remaining more ecologically friendly than the D45's original Brazilian Rosewood. To make sure the Retro series guitars sound just like their vintage counterparts, Martin resorted to the same forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing that adds to the warmth and rich tone. Like the originals, the Retro series guitars come standard with the classic dovetail neck joint, select abalone pearl Style 45 snowflake inlays on a Modified Low Oval profile/Performing Artist taper neck for world class performance.
