Eventhough, all the lessons on CD 4 can be played on a Fretless CBG, there are several considerations that need to be addressed. These lessons will cover the essential requirements.

Devil's Tuning Method:

Without changing strings,

retune from GDg (CD 4) to Open D Tuning ADf# (CD 6)

This tuning makes it possible to strum chords and play CBG

 similar to a standard 6 string guitar using a simple system of movable chords.

Back in the 1930's, deep down south at a lonely crossroad that lies at the junction of Route 61 and 49 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, a young man carrying his guitar went there just before midnight in an attempt to change his fate.

It was believed that a crossroad was a portal between the spiritual world and the mundane world.

There he met a strange and mysterious man. Some say he was the gatekeeper, Papa Legba. Others say, he was the Devil.

This man took his guitar, "retuned it", and played a tune before handing it back. It is believed that the price for this exchange was the young man's soul.

The young man became one of the greatest and best know blues musicians of all times. Unfortunately, dealing with the Devil also cost him his life, dying at the early age of 27.

Some say, that this secret tuning allowed him to play any song he wished.

These video lessons are for 3 string fretted and fretless instruments. Music tablature is included on the video.
