Only 50 will be made - 2015 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awardees Charlie and Ira Louvin transcended genres, performing and recording gospel, country, folk, hillbilly and 50's pop from the 40's through the 60's. "When I Stop Dreaming," "Cash on the Barrel Head" and "The Christian Life" were some of their hits. The artwork from their classic 1959 gospel album "Satan Is Real" is reproduced on the top of this guitar. The brothers built the 16-foot tall image of the devil from plywood, set it up behind a pile of burning tires and posed for the photograph as rain started to fall. This guitar is based on a 1955 D-28 with the rear-shifted X-brace of the period and vintage-look waffleback tuning gears. Built with East Indian rosewood instead of the original Brazilian and with a Sitka spruce top. Neck is the modern Modified Low Oval shape with Performing Artist taper (1-3/4" nut, 2-3/16" string spacing at saddle). Inside label is numbered in sequence with total and signed by C.F.Martin IV and Ken Louvin (Charlie's son).
