From humble beginnings in 1959 as a small family-run guitar shop nestled at the foot of Mount Takamine in the central Japanese town of Sakashita, the fledgling company took the mountain’s name in 1962 and began in earnest the journey that has led to the phenomenal success that is the modern Takamine company.

This EF400SC 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar has been hand made in the Takamine Factory at the foot of the Takamine Mountain in Japan. Japanese made Takamine Guitars are true "boutique" instruments with relatively small numbers being hand crafted by the Takamine Artisans - a sharp contrast to the State-side brands which are turned out in their thousands.

The Dreadnought shape is the keystone of the acoustic guitar world which is why Takamine have named their family of traditional -and not-so-traditional Dreadnoughts the Keystone Series.

This Dreadnought 12 string Acoustic-Electric began its journey with a hand selected solid Spruce Soundboard. The single Takamine Craftsman charged with bringing this instrument to life fittd the bracing system and voiced this top to absolute musical perfection.

The solid Indian Rosewood back and Indian Rosewood sides were then selected to complete what was is now an exceptional musical instrument. The Acoustic Tone and overall playability of this guitar is simply superb.

Plugged in, the Takamine EF400Sc takes on a life of its own. The CT4B preamp has been designed for ease of use and purity of tone. Consisting of 3 bands of graphic EQ tone control, a volume control slider and a built-in chromatic tuner.
The 3 band EQ provides control over the bass (LOW), midrange (MID) and treble (HIGH) frequency response.The built-in chromatic tuner is extremely accurate, easy to use and a must have for any 12 string guitar.
