The smaller Grand Concert body of the 612e will appeal to players that prefer the down-sized acoustic model for a more comfortable fit. A slightly shorter scale length, combined with a slimmer body bout and waist, adds to the projection and snap of the top end tone that Maple and Spruce have to offer, great for fingerpickers or light strummers. Taylor's forward-shifted bracing with relief rout is a tone-enhancing voicing technique in which a groove is carved along the inside edges of the top. This groove is similar in function to the re-curve on a violin — it “loosens up” the edges of the top, generating extra flexibility without sacrificing structural integrity.
