To mark the 40th year anniversary of Taylor Guitars, the 800 series models were revamped with a host of tonal enhancements and tweaks that have really turned the 814CE into a special guitar for the seasoned professional player.

As part of Taylor's flagship rosewood/spruce series, the 814CE employs the classic Rosewood back and sides which ticks all the boxes for any level guitarist who wants one guitar to rule them all - Deep lows assert a throaty growl, whilst sparkling highs ring out with bell-like, high-fidelity clarity. Rhythm guitarists will particularly appreciate the emphasis on low end presence, with a slightly scooped midrange offering complex overtones and extended sustain. A classic Solid Sitka Spruce top balances this out well, the most commonly used wood for tops because it’s light and stiff in the right ways to promote a clear acoustic tone.

To further optimise the tonal voice of the 814CE, Taylor have included custom-calibrated bracing and wood thicknesses for each shape, enhanced by protein glues that further improve the tonal transfer. A thinner finish reduces the tonal dampening on the wood; and customized string sets for the Grand Auditorium model further help with playability (Elixir HD Light).

Among the fresh aesthetic strokes are rosewood purfling that outlines the top and frames the abalone rosette; a rosewood pickguard;  a new Element fretboard inlay; and  a marbled ebony fretboard. Inside and out, the new 800 Series reaffirms Taylor’s ongoing commitment to improving the acoustic experience with better-playing, better-sounding guitars.
