Grammer Guitars waren die Idee des Musikers Billy Grammer, der Prototyp wurde im März 1965 von der RG&G Musical Company gebaut (Reid, Grammer and Gower). Als die Firma in finanzielle Schwierigkeiten geriet, wurde sie 1968 von der Ampeg Company gekauft, die bis 1971 weiter Musikinstrumente baute.
Die Grammer Gitarren waren die Top-Modelle des Sortiments und viele bekannte Musiker spielten sie, zum Beispiel Johnny Cash und Merle Haggard. Heutzutage sieht man Grammer Gitarren nicht mehr oft, aber das Video zeigt Joe Bonamassa mit seiner (extrem seltenen) Johnny Cash Signature von Grammer.
Diese Gitarre hier wurde 1968 gebaut, als Grammer schon zu Ampeg gehörte. Sie hat eine Decke aus Alpenfichte, der Boden und die Zargen sind aus Rio-Palisander. Sie hat einen Hals aus Kirschholz, ein Ebenholz-Griffbrett, ein cremefarbenes Binding und auch das Kopfplattenfurnier ist natürlich aus Palisander. Diese Grammer Dreadnought spielt sich sehr gut und sie klingt fantastisch, mit einem vollen, warmen und trockenen Ton. Sie ist in exzellentem Zustand und hat erstaunlich wenig Spielspuren für eine Gitarren in diesem Alter. Die Bünde sind erneuert worden, der Steg ist vermutlich neu angebracht worden und ein Fugenriss in der Decke wurde geklebt. Wir liefern diese Grammer G-10 im Hartschalenkoffer.
