This is an original theatrical release 41" x 27" one sheet poster for the 1958 Alfred Hitchcock film that is considered one of the greatest movies in cinema history. The bewildering love story of a San Francisco detective, obsessed with a fantasy woman who appears to him in two distinct and perhaps criminal incarnations is unique and unforgettable.  Artwork on the poster, using a geometric compass art design, is by acclaimed illustrator Saul Bass and mimics the film's opening credits to a degree. Condition of the poster is very fine, professionally linen-backed by a qualified restorer. The poster was originally folded as sent out to theatres when the movie was originally released.  There was some writing on the  back of the poster that does not bleed through after the backing except in three areas -- you can see an extremely light remnant of the word "color" between Saul Bass' signature and the "O" of "Vertigo" at the bottom title. Also you can see a ghost remnant of a word at the very bottom right of the gyroscope design. There is also a word on the back behind the word "Masterpiece" on the front but it is almost completely unnoticeable without intense examination.  I have priced the poster accordingly based on this.  A near mint example of this one-sheet has recently sold for as much almost $8,000. at Heritage Auctions.
