Up for sale is an ultra rare Ritz Classic Model guitar in excellent shape. Made in limited numbers by Wayne Charvel around the late 80's between his departure from Charvel Guitars but before the start of Wayne Guitars. The company lasted only 8 months. They made an estimated 150 guitars. This guitar has seen minimal play time. The guitar is in 100% working and original condition from what I can tell. There isn't much out there on these guitars to base my observations on but I'll tell you what I see. The body top carving is an interesting shape with a flat area in the middle and beveled sides. I've read on the Internet that some Ritz guitars were factory equipped with MIDI pickups which would definitely explain the flat spot to mount a synthesizer pickup and the fact that the body does have three holes that are filled and painted where a MIDI processor would have sat. If you're familiar with the Cibson WRC that Wayne designed in the late 80's for them, the bodies of these two guitars have striking similarities. I'm certain the paint is the original factory Corvette red, but if you look at the body in angled light near the control knobs, you can see the out line of a filled control hole. It's very subtle. The finish is in great shape with just a few very minor marks. No chips or moderate to severe scratching. There is a small hair line crack crack lengthwise behind the nut on the neck. It's definitely been glued and has not movement present. I've seen these types of cracks before and they're usually what I would call a natural crack and not from physical trauma. It's most likely from natural flexing of the wood from when the truss rod is used. I maxed out the truss rod both ways and even then, the crack shows no movement. The neck is straight and truss rod functions as it should. The frets are in near perfect shape. Nut width is 1.7". Neck profile is fairly shallow at .73" at the first fret. 25.5" scale. Another interesting detail is the labeling on the aluminum control cavity cover. Of course anyone could have made this at anytime, but it does contain the text "WRC0002" which are Wayne Charvel's initials and maybe, just maybe, this was his second guitar built under the Ritz name. There are no other marks present on the guitar. Not in the control cavity, neck pocket, heel, or under the bridge. The bridge is an unmarked make but does have standard threads. The low E saddle is a different style than the rest, however. The Original Gotoh tuners work perfectly. Nut is bone. Excellent sounding Schaller made humbucker in the bridge and Jackson J200R rail humbucker in the neck. Gig bag included though nothing special. I've seen the seashell clad Neptune version of this guitar go for $3500-5000. Of course that's a super premium guitar. This one is not that but it's still a limited build model. It does have the neck fissure but I'm very confident that it's addressed properly and will not cause any issues here forward. Thanks for looking and please ask any questions.
